12/05/08-Take'n it Easy

From Orlando, Florida

Beach

Usually when we go anywhere, especially when we don't have much time there, we would have a packed schedule ensuring that not even a minute is wasted. But today, we woke up late and didn't have a plan on what to do. We were just enjoying the weather and deciding what to do whenever we felt like it. We decided it was worth the hour drive to the Coco Beach. After all, I flew two hours to Florida (the closest I've been to a beach in the last few years) what is another hour drive. We popped in the point of interest and blindly and faithfully followed the GPS that came with our rental car to our destination. When we got there we instantly knew we had made the right decision. The weather was perfect, and we could have spent a lifetime just on the beach. I even teased my boss and emailed him a picture of the rolling waters and endless sandy beaches. He texted back it's 19 degrees here.
I was in my jeans however, I didn't want to waste the opportunity of being at the beach. I walked bare-footed into the wet sand and walked up and down the beach with water up to my knees. It was a great feeling.

Shopping
According to the maps of Orlando, there were to major outlet shopping centers, on our way back from Coco Beach, we decided to stop and scope out the bargains Florida had to offer. Honestly, the outlet shopping there were not as great as the deals of outlet shopping in the Midwest. They did offer coupon booklets when you bring in a hotel voucher, however most were not usable unless you were going to drop a wad of cash at one place. Even than, the discount was only about 10-20% off. But still it was fun just walking around people-watching and sipping on coffee from Starbucks.

Cirque Show
After the stroll at the outlet mall we thought we were going to spend the rest of the evening in the hotel room relaxing in front of cable television when suddenly we saw a billboard off the side of the highway on the way back. The advertisement was filled with flying, smiling,face-painted, exotically and colorfully costumed acrobats. And written across it with big letters in exciting font it read Le Naube. Like everybody have told me a Cirque du Soleil show is NEVER a disappointment. After the show, we took a quiet walk down Downtown Disney and Pleasure Island. Even late into the evening there were still lots to see and do.

The weather was perfect, the beach was perfect, the show was amazing, and the evening was great.
